Bop Gun. My April Fools prank was waking up to find that a dear friend and steadfast supporter was no longer sharing oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen with us. David Mills was a televsion writer-producer and a prolific journalist and blogger covering music and a universe of related cultural phenomenon. I collaborated with David and Larry Alexander on George Clinton and P-Funk: An Oral History (Avon Paperbacks, 1998). He collapsed in his director's chair on the set of Treme, an upcoming mini-series which was set to be another in a long series of successful dramatic TV projects. I'm still adjusting to the reality of an absence that I had not, could not have anticipated. I will post more about David Mills in the upcoming days. Click here for the Washington Post's obituary on David.

"I think the pursuit of happiness is what"s happening. Happy is boredom. Once you get to the top, you ain't got nowhere to go. I enjoy chasing it. When and if I get a hit record, then I can groove for a minute. But I have to keep getting hit records."
